With the program downloaded and saved to your local machine we can now begin the install process.
Step 1: Launch your favorite “unzippping” program (WinZip, WinRAR, 7-ZIP, etc). This article will use WinRAR. Click on Wizard.
Step 2: Choose “Unpack an archive” and click on Next.
Step 3: Browse to the location where you stored the download. For “Save as type”, select All Files. You will now see Project. Select Project and click on OK.
Step 4: The location and filename will automatically populate into the Archive name field, click on Next.
Step 5: Select the location where you would like the folder containing the unzipped files to be stored. Click on Finish.
Step 6: The Wizard will create a folder, unzip all the files into that folder and then open the folder. Double click on “Setup”.
Step 7: Accept the terms of agreement and click on “Continue”.
Step 8: Choose whether you want to “Upgrade” your existing version of Microsoft Project or “Customize”. In order to run two (or more) different versions of Microsoft Project on your machine at one time, you must click on “Customize”. This article follows the “Customize” route.
Step 9: Select “Keep all previous versions” and click on “Install Now”.
Step 10: The installation process will begin.
Step 11: Once the installation is complete, click on Close.
Step 12: You must reboot your machine.
Step 13: Click on >Start, >Programs, >Microsoft Office 2013, and click on Project 2013.
Step 14: Since we have chosen to install Project 2013 along side another version of Microsoft Project, we will chose “No” on importing existing cache data.
Step 15: The Activate Office dialogue box will appear. Choose “Enter a product key instead”
Step 16: Enter the product key that you printed (or saved) during the download procedures. Click on Install.
Step 17: Choose “Use recommended settings” and click on Accept.
Step 18: Again, since we will be running Project 2013 along side a previous version of Project, we will choose “Cancel” for copying previous global settings. Click on OK.
Step 19: Project 2013 will now open on your machine. Notice the new “Tile” interface.
Installation is now complete!
